Final Blog

I had a good experience with this class due to it been given excellent projects that taught us more about Premiere, After Effects, and Film Production.  Along with developing better compositions and designs within each project.  I learned more about Film Production than I imagined.  Even though I work in Art Network, within being more involved in this class I discovered that I love film production even more.   I gained more knowledge on different camera angles.  Especially the one-camera shot. The class grew closer after we filmed both Promos on the beach and in the Health Center.   I think this also has to do with it being a smaller class.  I enjoyed meeting the clients from the BloodBank, meeting The Futurist, along with being introduced to Guy and Elaine from Spectrum Productions.

I would have to admit that in the beginning I struggled with having a blogspot account and because of that it was difficult to keep up to date on the progress so far.  However, Judy came to the rescue and helped me.  Then I got caught up.  At first I did not how to exactly write or post things well.  When I started looking at hers.  I realized that I should upload images or examples better.  So I started doing that and got better within time.
My one favorite project was the Personal Promo because it made me think more of where I stand and how far I have grown since I joined Art Network in freshmen year.  Then when it came to putting together different work to collaborate it.  I realized the amount of progress I have made.  I also learned more about editing and making smooth transitions within different cuts.
I also enjoyed having Ms. Lisa Moody and our instructor and having the other students as classmates.  I hope we can all be in a same class again!

December 4, 2015

Today is the last day of the semester!  I am still in shock on how fast time flew.  I would say I did have a good experience with this class.  We were assigned excellent projects that taught us more about Premiere and Film Production.  I learned more about Film Production than I thought I would.  I have to admit I think our class grew closer than I imagined as well.  I think after we filmed each others Promos on the beach and in the Health Center.  I think the class grew more comfortable with one another and we enjoyed each other's company more.  I also believe this has to do with it already being a small class.  It is easier to communicate.
This is my final piece of my Personal Promo.  Since the last cut I edited the auto color, editing more of the green screen effects with the Green Screen Chrome.  I also place music throughout the piece.  I put my Art Network logo I created in my animated TV screen along with adding footage from my experience in being apart of Art Network.  At the end I added the same logo I created rotating on screen with my ending voice.  I stated, "This is why you should join Art Network!  Thank you!"

December 2, 2015

Today our Rough Cut is due.  This is my piece so far.  I have my video edited with a background with the TV animating on screen.  I am now looking for music to tie the footage together and ending.  Today, Spectrum Productions came and visited from Tampa.  I really enjoyed their visit and watching their work they produce.  They gave me their business cards and I will try to visit them over break which I will be looking forward to!

November 25th, 2015

We did not have class today due to being on Thanksgiving Break.  For next class we had to have our first rough cut done for the Final Personal Promo.  Right now I am working on cutting between the wide shots and the close-up shots.  When I have that step completed I will work on editing the background and including personal work I have created for Art Network.

Today we are editing for the personal promo's.  I have my final story board ready to demonstrate how my piece went last week.  I am also going to continue with the same script.  I edited the original template from last week.  We are going to film shoot today.  My partners are Derek Gunnels and Leona.  We will first shoot mine in the green screen room.  The we will go outside to shoot theirs.  I am looking forward to it!

November 11th, 2015

Today we showed the final cut to our clients; Bridget, Cindy, and Ginger Fudge.  It was a pleasure meeting Ginger Fudge whom was the director of BloodBank.  I presented to them two pieces that were fifteen seconds each.  I was pleased with the fact they enjoyed it.  All I need to do for the Final Cut is edit Derek's tone a voice.  Just bring it down a little bit.

After we presented our storyboards to Lisa on how we are planning on shooting our Personal Promos for next week.  This is my Storyboard and Script that I will be using for the following week.  I know I have a little more editing to do on my storyboard.  I am looking forward to shooting it!

November 4th, 2015

At this point with the Sarasota Bloodbank project.  We are suppose to be almost done with editing.  Meaning we need to have the audio right along with sounds or music.  The class needs to know where they will be putting the graphics or any other text in their piece.  Amy came in today and taught us on color correcting. She gave very good advice on how edit colors in different ways.  Next week the clients will be coming in and we will be showing them our final cut.
We will also need to have out crew sheet, script, storyboards done where we can be ready to shoot our personal promos.
October 28, 2015
Today we continued editing our videos we shot for the Sarasota BloodBank project.  Ed was in charge of the class today.  He gave very good critique on camera angles, lighting, etc.  I also have been working on audio editing where I get the timing right with the vampires talking.  I still have more work to do.  But I am happy with how its coming along.
We will start to work on re-shooting our personal promos.  In the beginning of the year I created mine.  Not that I was not happy with it.  I know there can be improvement.  I am planning on shooting in the green screen room again.  I am planning on wearing a nice outfit and I will be more prepared with speaking on camera.  I now want to incorporate Motion Work into this... so I need to develop more creative ideas...

October 21,

The Clients; Bridget and Cindy came in and we showed them our first rough cut.  I edited it to be fifteen seconds.  It has audio and I am in the process if putting in the graphics.  The critique I received from them was
-Have a more spooky into Christmas audio.
-Bring in a hashtag
-Message
-Logo, all in this order.
Afterwards, Ed Cheetham came in and critiqued my piece and gave me advice on how to make a logo animation with their logo.  Him, Lisa, and I came to a conclusion to have it simple.  There would be the message in white letters, the letters would expand into a white background, and the logo will come on.
This is my rough cut.  I am going to continue editing my new audio, work on the graphics, and the way the camera blurs at the end.

October 14th,

Today Amy Nestor gave everyone their videos.  We started editing in class and will be figuring out audio and the graphics for the next pass.  The whole class period was dedicated to editing for the following class.

October 7th, 2015

Today Luisa Leschin and Max CiVon came to our class.  It was a pleasure speaking with them again.  We got to talk to them about their careers and get advice from them.  I made sure to ask them two questions.  One for Max and the other one for Luisa.
1.)  Max:  Have you ever been in a situation where you have had to walk out of a job where it didn't feel right?  If so, how did you handle it?
2.)  Luisa:  Would you say being an actor helped with becoming a writer?
Their answers were very good.  Luisa also made  statement, "Sometime when your a bad actor, you can be a great writer.  Or when sometimes your a good actor, it can make you a bad writer.  However, it's always good to wear both shoes in order to understand both sides."  Max did mention how he has had a few jobs where he was not to happy but he stuck with them.  He knew he would leave them eventually.  But he always did his job well and made sure to leave on good terms.
I also had the opportunity of meeting and working at their show the night before.  I loved talking and getting to know them before the show.  The Art Network crew got to sit and hear their story before the show.  During the show, I filmed it and saw the different movies they worked on.

After they left we started video editing our promos we recently filmed.  In the next class, we will be video editing all class.  I am looking forward to seeing how they turn out!

August 19th,

First Day of Class!  We are already being introduced to our first project where we need to have a continuous camera movement on an actor discussing what Art Network is.  I have been put into a group with Derek and Leona.  Now, we are gathering ideas for next class on how we want to make our videos.

September 30, 2015

Today the Art Network class filmed mine & Judy's vampire scene along with Elizabeth's and Nate's.

This was our final storyboard we came up with to guide us through our shoot.
It was another busy, fun day.  We first came to my apartment for the vampire scene.  I had three actors; Emily Yan, Derek Gunnels. and Jamie Flores.  They portrayed a scene of opening gifts on Christmas morning and receiving blood.  All of them did a great job!
For the second scene, we went to the health clinic and there were several actors.  There were nurses, doctors, a "tattoo guy" that donated blood.  This shoot went successful as well.
Now for next week we have to research Luisa Leschin, our guest speaker that is coming into our class.  I am looking forward to learning about her and meeting her!
September 23rd, 2015

Today there was a film shoot for Derek's and Leona's film along with Stephanie's and Ana's film.  They were both a lot of fun.
For Derek's and Leona's the class had to go outside for a car scene and to sit outside of the tables. For the inside scene, I had to play as a "tired student" trying not to fall asleep in class.

Then, for Stephanie's and Ana's film shoot.  Derek and I were actors on the beach.  We had to act "sassy!"  After that was over, some of us played in the warm ocean water.  Then we went to Kilwin's and got ice cream after!  Which was absolutely amazing and delicious!

September 16th, 2015

Today was a busy day with meeting David Houle, presenting our final piece to the Bloodbank Drive and discussing how we will begin shooting in the following two classes.

I was honored to meet David Houle, a futurist spoke in our class today.

I had the opportunity to hear him discuss his life as a Futurist and what his plans are for the future.  I asked him two questions
1.)  "How did you become a Futurist from when you worked at the different television broadcast stations?"
2.)  "You do generally give examples of how most people born in the nineteenth century are experienced with the non-technology lifestyle.  Where it is normal to go outside or read a book versus others being born in the twenty-first century where they find being on their iPhone, iPad, or laptop to be in the norm.  Do you think a person in the twenty first century can eventually become a futurist?"

My partner, Judy Huang and I also presented our concepts and storyboards/moodboards to our clients; BloodBank Drive.  We made a presentation to them and the class.  We appreciated everyone's feedback and are looking forward to the project.

We are also in the process of planning the details for our photoshoot.
-We are having Elizabeth's younger two younger siblings and another child she knows be our actors.
 -Materials
  - Christmas tree, Christmas lights, vampire makeup, vampire costumes, blood bags, wrapping paper, gift bags/presents
  - Wireless mics on actors
-Location
-Bayou Community Room or Ulla Searing Community room.
-Still putting storyboard together.
September 9, 2015

Last Wednesday on September 2nd.  I had the pleasure to meet the Owner/Producer of Red Lizard Films.

I met Rob and his son, Kyle.  I enjoyed learning about their company and more about film productions.  I made sure to take notes on how certain camera's should be operated and different film shots.  I asked two questions; 1.)  Do you have to travel to do a shoot?  Or do your clients come to see you?  Is it necessary to meet your clients in person?
2.)  Do you work from home?  Or in a studio production?
I really enjoyed looking through their main camera they go on set with.  I did make a statement, "It's like looking through a telescope!"  That's because I became vey excited.  Their presentation made me want to learn more about film production!
September 2, 2015

In my Art Network video.  I decided to discuss my personal experience in how I have grown in myself and in my major because of being apart of it.  I talked about how within having this job, I learned how to operate a camera, video edit, work with others on set and in meetings.  However, one thing that this experience has brought me in I have found more of myself within my art work.  I am developing more of my own style and I am finding new ways to incorporate myself into clients work.  I also edited the background in the video.  I hope you enjoy it!

Today the Blood Bank Blood Drive also came and visited our class today.  They gave us their brief and they want either holiday, O-Negative, or a Platelet video encouraging college students to donate blood.  They want to overall raise awareness.  Lisa assigned everyone with a partner.  I will be working with Judy Huang.  I also asked questions on what kind of logos they would like for their videos, what kind of audience we are aiming for, and what exactly is the message?
August 26, 2015
For my homework assignment, I chose three shows; Law & Order: SVU, Full House, and American Idol.  Law & Order: SVU is a drama show.  It is about detectives that investigate crimes and analyze crime scenes.  Full House was filmed in the late 1980's through the mid 1990's.  It is a Children's Show that was based on a widowed father raising three daughters, ages one, four and eight.  After his wife passed, his brother-in-law and best friend moved in to help raise his girls.  American Idol is a reality TV show that was created by Simon Fuller.  This one is focused on a singing competition, where the winner becomes the next American Idol.
The show I chose for a good storytelling example was Law & Order: SVU, episode,  “Surrendering Noah,” because I found excellent scenes that were over-the-shoulder angles that created extreme emotions, and made the viewer feel afraid and want to keep watching what happens next.

My partners and I had to present our ideas on how we are going to film each other.  For Derek and I, we discussed our personal experiences on how being apart of Art Network has been beneficial for our majors and had made us grow personally.  I explained how I want the camera to be coming towards me as I speak.  Derek wanted to do the same.  For Leona's we will have a shot from coming on the side.
